The Provincial Archives of Alberta is scheduled to re-open Tuesday, June 23, and it has put several measures in place to support efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The number of visitors at a time will be limited to ten. A maximum number of six researchers will be allowed in the reading room at a time, two visitors in the archives store, and two visitors in the foyer exhibit.

There will be timed appointments for the reading room and archives store to allow for capacity control and no-contact purchasing. Plexiglass shields have been installed in customer service areas, and physical distancing will be encouraged with signage.

Visitors are asked to bring their own mask. None will be provided.

The client lounge is closed to limit visitor contact, and vending machines will not be available. For now, there will be no facility tours, public programs, or group visits.

Researchers are encouraged to contact the provincial archives by email and telephone.

The new guidelines are available on the Provincial Archives of Alberta’s website.
