Scottish Institute to hold week-long presentations and research in Edinburgh

Christine Woodcock has organised the Scottish Istitute, a “specialised learning and researching opportunity.” The Scottish Institute is a small-group experience, limited to 15 registrants for one week, for professional and semi-professional genealogists who may or may not conduct research for clients with Scottish ancestry.

The week will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland, from October 18 to 25, 2015. Participants will receive 20 hours of learning and 20 hours of research.

The week will offer the opportunity to listen to speakers on several topics, including the holdings of the GRO, NAS (combined as the NRS), palaeography, National Health archives, maps, newspapers, the holdings of the NLS, court records, the efforts of the Maxwells at Scottish Indexes, ancestral tourism, and the Scottish Genealogy Network.

The week culminates with a joint Professional Development Day with members of the Scottish Genealogy Network. This day of workshops will be followed by social networking with colleagues in Scotland that will provide participants with the opportunity to make important connections on the ground in Scotland.

Price is $2,195 per person, double occupancy.  Airfare not included.

Ms. Woodcock is a Scottish-born, Canadian-raised, genealogy educator, blogger, and director of Genealogy Tours of Scotland.
