Prisoners haunt the Morrin Centre

On Wednesday, March 19, at 7:30 p.m., Quebec City’s Morrin Centre will present Steven Cameron, author and co-founder of the Irish heritage group Coirneal Cealteach. In his lecture, Who Are the Prisoners that Haunt the Morrin Centre?, Mr. Cameron will tell chilling and fascinating tales of some of the inmates incarcerated at Quebec’s first common gaol. He will talk about a public hanging, a banishment to Van Diemen’s Land, an Anglo Patriote, a knife fight, a train derailment, marauding armed Orangemen, Ribbonmen hiding in the hills, and much more. It promises to be a perfect evening for those who prefer their history gruesome and bloody.

The lecture will be delivered in English, followed by a bilingual Q&A period.

Free admission. To reserve ticket(s) in advance, contact the Morrin Centre at 418-694-9147 or info@morrin.org. The Morrin Centre is located at 44 Chaussée des Écossais.
