Finding Your Roots on PBS is back tonight with a new episode that features Michael Douglas who discovers descent from a New Jersey militia commander during the American Revolution and Lena Dunham who is surprised to hear that one of her ancestors was a New York City mayor.
Both guests are the children of famous artists, but their family trees contain a cast of characters whose lives were forgotten. Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. recovers them, telling stories from the shtetls of Eastern Europe to the streets of colonial America.
Next week’s episode, Viewers Like You, features three everyday Americans, “who are haunted by deep family mysteries.” This will be the last episode of season ten.
