Ancestry’s free-access Canada Day offer rather ho-hum

Well, it appears I was wrong about Ancestry’s Canada Day weekend special. It is only for free access to Canadian census records, not to all Canadian records.

Not at all exciting. All Canadian census records are already available online for free on Library and Archives Canada’s website.

Here’s the Ancestry link for the Canada Day “offer.” If there’s more to this offer, let me know.

I’ll add a correction to my earlier post.

Ancestry.com has a LOT of fine print.

Wow – that’s unusual…and not a good turn of events. Normally every Canada Day all Canadian records are free…OTOH, at many, many libraries, you can access pretty much all Canadian records via Ancestry Library Edition.

On July 4th, will Ancestry offer free access to U.S. Censuses? (Already free at Findmypast.com)
