Details about Hillary Clinton’s French Canadian family tree

If you’re looking for a political story here, you’ll have to go elsewhere. I’m sticking to genealogy. It’s less stressful.

After I posted yesterday’s article about Hillary Clinton’s connection to the filles du roi in New France, Diane Wolford Sheppard of the French-Canadian Heritage Society of Michigan shared on the Genealogy à la carte Facebook group an article she and Gail Moreau-DesHarnais had written about Ms. Clinton’s ancestry.

Originally written for the society’s publication, Michigan’s Habitant Heritage, the article, Hillary Rodham Clinton’s French-Canadian Ancestry, was chosen as the best for 2007 and it is available online. In the article, Ms. Sheppard and Ms. Moreau-DesHarnais explain their research and the resources they used. In all, there are 16 generations.

A number of articles about individuals and families written by members for the society are also available on the society’s website.
