An historical preservation group working to protect a large Revolutionary War cemetery in New York’s Hudson Valley says it has identified a French soldier known to have died there.
Fusilier Jean Bonnaire is the 86th soldier the Friends of the Fishkill Supply Depot has identified as having died at Fishkill during the war, when the depot was a major supply base for the Continentals. The other 85 were from New York, seven other colonies, and Canada.
