Second season of QUI ÊTES-VOUS? begins tonight

The second season of Radio-Canada’s QUI ÊTES-VOUS?, the Quebec version of Who Do You Think You Are? begins tonight, Monday, December 1, at 9:00 p.m. The stories will take us to Quebec, the Maritime provinces, the United States, England, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands.

To my friends who are descended from the Stebbins of Deerfield, Massachussetts, I direct your attention to the December 15 episode with Antoine Bertrand.

Here is what we have to look forward to.

René Simard — December 1
Former teen singing star René Simard is astonished to discover the mark his Simard ancestors made in the history of Quebec, particularly in the Saguenay and Charlevoix regions. To learn what drove his ancestors to leave their wives and children behind to settle in New France, Simard travels to the gion of Puymoyen in Charente, France.

Claude Legault — December 8
Passionate about the Second World War, actor Claude Legault grew up imagining what life was like for his maternal uncle, Évariste Lagacé, who fought in Normandy with the North Shore Regiment. In this episode, Legault compares the stories he remembers hearing about his uncle with what really happened. His emotional journey to follow the military life of Private Lagacé takes him to three countries.

Antoine Bertrand — December 15
Actor Antoine Bertrand developed an interest in his great-grandfather Zéphir, a telegraph operator, station master, and mayor, from his father and uncles. Then, Bertrand explores his Stebbins ancestors who survived massacres, wars, persecution, and exile. His journey will take him to New England and the other side of the Atlantic to trace his ancestry back to the 16th century.

Mariloup Wolfe — December 22
Actress Mariloup Wolfe always believed her paternal ancestors were German. For the first time, she begins a quest to confirm if family stories are true. Accompanied by her father, she rediscovers the Lanaudière region that was once the centre of the Wolfes and a line she did not know, the Leblancs. When she learns that she has Acadian blood, she goes to the Martimes and delves into the tragic story of the Great Expulsion. Wolfe’s story ends in Germany where she tracks down her ancestor, Private Michael Wolfe.
