Three heritage groups in Quebec have produced two calendars that celebrate the historic events in their community.
Heritage Gaspé has produced again this year a calendar that includes historic images of the people and their occupations and activities, including fishing and mining. The 2015 calendar is available for $15. Heritage Gaspé says, “This calendar is a wonderful reminder of home for anyone from Gaspé or now living away, and would make an excellent gift or keepsake.”

To mark the 50th anniversary of the city Laval, the Société d’histoire et de généalogie de l’Île Jésus (SHGIJ) and the Centre d’archives de Laval have created a 2015 calendar, Un passé vivant (A vibrant past) about the city’s history. Laval is the third largest city in Quebec and located north of the Island of Montreal on an island called Île-Jésus (Jesus Island).
The Île Jésus historical and genealogical society and the Laval archival centre worked together to select key dates, photos, and illustrations about the history of Laval and surrounding parishes. The calendar features a wide range of photos and events, from the first European settlement in 1636 to today.
Starting this month, the calendar will be on sale for $19.95 in many Laval bookstores, such as Archambault, Indigo, Librairie Imagine, Librairie Carcajou, and the Cosmodôme store. You can also contact the SHGIJ at 450-682-9096 or info@shgij.org.
