Ancestry has updated its collection, currently called Ontario, Canada, Deaths and Deaths Overseas, 1869-1950, to include death registrations for the years 1951 and 1952.
Subscribers can now explore almost 88,000 newly added Ontario death registrations. These records are from the Archives of Ontario.
There are also a couple of dozen records from 1953, suggesting Ancestry may soon be adding more from that year. The Archives of Ontario said last September that the death registrations for 1953 were being actively digitized and processed for online release. Let’s keep our fingers crossed we’ll see them soon.
On FamilySearch, the Canada, Ontario, Deaths, 1869-1937 and Overseas Deaths, 1939-1947 collection is free to search. All you need to do is sign up for a free account.
Many thanks to Ken McKinlay who yesterday brought to my attention that death registrations for 1952 had also been added to Ancestry. When I first saw notice of the updated collection a couple of days ago, I only searched for death registrations for 1951 and blogged about those records. Now, I can share the news that there are double the number of registrations.
