Quebec marriage returns
If your relatives married in Quebec between 1926 an 1997, take a look at one of my favourite collections, Quebec Marriage Returns, 1926-1997, that is only available through subscription on MyHeritage and Genealogy Quebec.

No relatives in Quebec during that period? Then, perhaps you’ll want to look at the marriage return for Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor whose first marriage to each other took place in a private ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Montreal on March 15, 1964.

Céline Dion and René Angélil’s marriage return can also be found in Quebec Marriage Returns, 1926-1997. The world-renowned singer and her late husband-manager were married on December 17, 1994, at Notre-Dame Basilica in Old Montreal.

These statistical returns (forms), numbering almost eight million, are unique to Quebec. They were completed by members of the clergy or officiants who conducted a marriage in order for the government to compile statistics.

From 1926 to 1997, the government introduced four or five different statistical return forms, each with its own set of questions. Some years, more information was required than others.

Happy Canada Day!
