Free, unlimited access to MyHeritage’s improved colour restoration tool until February 5

If you own faded colour photos or black and white photos, dig them out, and cancel all other plans.

MyHeritage yesterday announced it has released a new, improved tool for colour restoration, the feature within MyHeritage In Colour that restores the faded hues in old colour photos and colourizes black and white photos.

What an improved tool.

And the news gets better.

MyHeritage is offering free and unlimited use of MyHeritage In Color™, Photo Enhancer, and Photo Repair, until February 5.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well the improved tool works, compared to the old tool.

It also works well on black and white photos.

Usually, you can improve a limited number of photos for free, with unlimited access granted only to paying subscribers. During this limited-time offer, however, you will be able to repair, colourize, and enhance as many photos as you like even without a paid subscription.

But first, you’ll need to set up a free account.

The free, unlimited access allows you to use:

  • Photo Repair: fixes scratches and creases in photos
  • MyHeritage In Color: colorizes black and white photos and restores colors in faded color photos
  • Photo Enhancer: brings blurry faces into sharp focus

MyHeritage will increase your storage quota
If you have previously uploaded photos to MyHeritage and don’t have a subscription, you may experience the same storage quote problem I did.

You won’t be able to upload more photos because you’ve run out of storage.

May be an image of text that says 'See your heritage in color Upload You have reached your storage quota results × Upgrade your site to store additional photos & videos. Upgrade subscription plan OK UPLOADING PHOTO'

But there’s a solution.

If you have a storage issue, contact MyHeritage Support, and they will gladly increase the amount of storage. You do not need a subscription to ask for this help.

Tip
If you want to try the improved MyHeritage In Color tool on photos that are already in your MyHeritage photo album that you previously enhanced with the old tool, you first need to delete the previously improved photo. Click on the three vertical dots above the photo and then click on Delete and select Improved Photo or Colorized Photo. Your original faded or black and white photo will remain. Then, you’ll be able to try the improved colourizing tool on your photographic gem.

Now, go have fun improving your old faded photos. The household chores and dinner can wait.
