A free new collection of military records is now available on FamilySearch, and it’s bound to send many genealogists down the research rabbit hole.
This past week, FamilySearch added United States, Enlisted and Officer Muster Rolls and Rosters, 1916-1939, a collection of 1,568,928 records. This military collection contains rosters of enlisted men that were prepared both monthly and bimonthly as well as rosters of officers.
Among the expanded collections is Venezuela, Catholic Church Records, 1577-1995 with almost two million records. Some of these records have been indexed and are searchable as part of this collection. Additional images and indexed records are published as they become available.
During the previous week, FamilySearch expanded the collection, United States City and Business Directories, ca. 1749 – ca. 1990, adding 6,754,133 more records.
Among the expanded collections during the week of May 3 were four Canadian collections:
Manitoba Census Indexes, 1831-1870
Manitoba Church Records, 1800-1959 This collection includes baptisms, marriages, deaths and other records from some Catholic, Lutheran and Unitarian parishes in Manitoba.
Newfoundland Church Records, 1793-1945 Records from some Catholic and Church of England parishes.
Nova Scotia Church Records, 1720-2001 Records from some Catholic and Church of England parishes.
