New and expanded records collections on FamilySearch include Nova Scotia, Ontario, Kansas and Michigan

During the past week, FamilySearch has added two new record collections and expanded many others.

The new record collections are:

Kansas, Military Discharge Records, ca.1862 – ca.1999 740 indexed records.

Michigan, Military Discharge Records, ca.1847 – ca.1965 1,010 indexed records.

FamilySearch indicated in its news release that 635,686 records have been indexed in the Ontario, Roman Catholic Church Records, 1760-1923 collection. Up to this point, however,, the collection is browsable only, but one can expect the indexed records should be available soon, making the collection searchable. This collection includes Catholic church records from various Ontario parishes. The records include baptisms, marriages and deaths.

On Ancestry, there is an Ontario, Canada, Roman Catholic Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials collection, covering the same time period, that is searchable and links in the search results take you to FamilySearch to view the records.

The Nova Scotia Church Records, 1720-2001 collection continues to grow with 215,252 indexed records. The dates vary for each parish in this collection. The records include parish registers of baptisms, marriages, deaths, a few censuses, and other records for some Church of England in Canada and Catholic parishes from Nova Scotia.

With almost two million indexed records, the Mexico, Veracruz, Catholic Church Records, 1590-1978 collection is this week’s largest.

FamilySearch’s news release contains a list of all collections expanded within the past week.
