In the National Genealogical Society blog, UpFront with NGS, I learned that the Maine Franco-American Genealogical Society in Auburn has compiled an impressive list of Ancestors of New England Families: Marriages from Canadian Parishes with American Descendants, 1599-1984. Almost all of the marriages are French Canadian from Quebec. Society volunteers compiled the records by walking cemeteries and researching cemetery records.
The first 58 pages of the 4,597-page document list variations of first and last names, including Dit names. The list of marriages begins on digital page 59 and includes names of bride, groom and parents and the date and location of the marriage.
