The Manitoba Genealogical Society has announced the keynote lineup for its first provincial conference, Celebrating 150 years of Manitoba, that takes place June 12 to 14, 2020 in Winnipeg.
The keynote speakers are two Canadians, Dave Obee and Louis Kessler, and two Americans, Lisa Louise Cooke and Diahan Southard.
Call for proposals
The call for presentation proposals was issued last month. The deadline for submissions is May 31, 2019. Details are available on the conference website.
In keeping with the theme of the conference, the Manitoba Genealogical Society invites speakers to submit up to six lecture proposals on these topics:
- Local area in Manitoba
- Manitoba
- Canada
- Back to basics
- General research tips
- Problem solving, methodology and new approaches to traditional research
- Successful research planning and project implementation
- Research specifically focused on social, cultural, racial and ethnic groups
- Sharing and preserving your family history through writing, photography, digital media, etc.
- DNA: beginner, intermediate and advanced lectures on DNA, genetic genealogy and the application and integration with traditional family history
- Interesting uses of records including religious, civil, land, probate, military, maritime and newspaper
- Technology: Providing solutions to improve genealogical research.
