Almost 3,000 vintage postcards on Toronto Public Library website

When we don’t have photos of an ancestor, we need to look for other sources for images to help illustrate their life. One source is the Toronto Public Library, which has made available on its website 2,978 vintage postcards — and its online collection is expected to grow.

In this collection of 19th and early 20th century postcards, you will find images of city and rural in Ontario, including more than 400 of churches. There are also some images from elsewhere in Canada and the United States.

Most, if not all, of the postcards appear to be in the public domain, making them ideal to illustrate a family history. The Rights and Licences are clearly indicated in the description of each postcard.
