There are a lot of impatient genealogists waiting for access to the 1926 Census of the Prairie Provinces (Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta).
The long-awaited census was completely indexed and reviewed by FamilySearch volunteers in September, but there is no word on how long it will take to upload it to the websites of Library and Archives Canada and FamilySearch.
Meanwhile on FamilySearch, there is not one Canadian project available to be indexed, compared to 79 American projects. I know Canada has only a tenth of the population of our neighbours to the south, but surely FamilySearch could find at least half a dozen Canadian record collections to digitize and index.
Seriously, eh?
It took a full year from the time the 1890 New York City Police Census was 100% indexed and 100% arbitrated for the index to be on FamilySearch.
Just sayin’ – you’ll wear yourself out checking every day or every week.
I had no idea it could possibly take a full year after the indexing was complete. Thanks for sharing.
I’m hoping that somewhere there is a book with Daniel D. Ward’s name in it so I can have a clue who his parents were. And I hope it’s found and I find it “out there” before I die. Tick Tock. My clock is ticking.
Yeh! yeh!
