The Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan has put online all of the back issues of Saskatchewan History magazine, from 1948 to 2017.
The Winter 2017 issue was the last one published. Declining subscriptions, after 69 years, were cited as the primary reason why the magazine closed, along with lack of time and funds.
Saskatchewan History issues include articles about the fur trade era, pioneer life, ethnic groups and immigration, the history of medicine and medical care, business and trade unionism, religion on the prairies, women’s history, First Nations and Métis history, and sports history.
The online collection of magazines is available in PDF, but cannot be searched, except within an issue, using the Control+F feature on a PC or Command+F on a Mac. Still, it is easy to quickly scan the full list of article titles or search these titles, using the search feature on PCs and Macs.
