As the February 7 deadline approaches to apply for the 2018-2019 Documentary Heritage Communities Program (DHCP) funding cycle, Library and Archives Canada (LAC) is offering webinars this week to help organizations submit applications.
Since 2015–2016, LAC has contributed $4.5 million to support 140 projects in Canada, and some of the projects are the kind that benefit genealogists.
Again, for a fourth year, LAC will invest $1.5 million through the DHCP.
The contributions support the development of Canada’s archival, library and museum communities, and the professional associations that represent them, by funding projects that help provide access to and promote documentary heritage.
In at least a couple of cases, small to medium-sized genealogical and historical organizations have been frustrated about not receive funding. Was the issue the project proposed, or not knowing how to apply? One hopes the simplified application process and this week’s webinar will improve their chances.
Webinar
The webinar will include a demonstration of LAC’s new simplified DHCP application process via the online portal, and participants will learn how to complete any requirements easily and securely. A question period will follow the presentation to answer any technical questions.
