Lecture on Italian genealogy research in Beaconsfield, Quebec

If you have Italian ancestors and live in the Montreal area, you’ll have a choice this Tuesday when snow and freezing rain are expected. You can sit at home and question why your ancestors left the warmer climate in Italy — or you can attend a lecture to learn more about them and gain an understanding of what propelled them to immigrate.

Peter A. Sampson will deliver the lecture, Italian Genealogy 2018 — Sharing Personal Experiences and Methods, at the Beaconsfield Library, located in the western part of the island of Montreal, to share some of the methods he used to address the challenges that are particular to Italian genealogy, in finding, evaluating and documenting Italian ancestry records.

He will demonstrate practical examples on gleaning information from Italian records, even with limited Italian language skills.

The lecture is free, and the library assured me registration is not required. It will start at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23 at the Beaconsfield Library, 303 boulevard Beaconsfield.

If the weather and roads look a bit dicey, you can call the library at 514-428-4460 to make sure the lecture will take place.
