Just in time for Christmas, Library and Archives Canada announced it has digitized 532,447 of 640,000 files in its Personnel Records of the First World War database, reaching the surname, Smith. The files of 4,985 men, named Smith, have been digitized, so that should keep genealogists, who have Smiths in their family tree, busy for a while.
If interested only in the files that have been digitized, select Yes next to Digitized File.
This digitization project is on schedule to be completed in time for the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI in November 2018.
