Alberta Genealogical Society conference sets attendance record

Congratulations to the Alberta Genealogical Society (AGS) for holding what appears to be their best conference yet. Attendance at the Edmonton event this past weekend reached record numbers with about 300 delegates, speakers, and exhibitors.

Delegates chose from more than 40 lectures that included topics on Irish, English, French, Eastern Europe, and general genealogy research, and DNA technology.

In the welcome message in the conference syllabus, AGS president Bob Franz wrote, “Technology has much to offer genealogists today, but nothing can replace the opportunities that conferences provide for people of a ‘like mind’ to meet and share their knowledge and experiences.”
