To make it easier for genealogists and members to know what is available, the Ontario Genealogical Society has consolidated the indexes from their branches onto one page on its website. Almost all can be viewed by the public.
Some of the indexes that are open to the public are funeral records, surnames, census, wills, and obituaries. Remember, these are indexes. Some, such as the Lambton Branch’s Early Settlers Master Index, allow you to do a first-level name search.
Thanks for this but can you please advise where on their web site this page can be found? You included a link but if you just go to the OGS web site it is well buried. Thanks. Aside from bookmarking it, I could never get there again.
The first link in this blog post takes you directly to the list of indexes. I checked, and the link still takes you there. Please give it another try. Thanks.
Your link works for sure. Great but if I just go to the OGS web site I don’t know where to find the menu that will let me find it. That was really what I was asking. I have bookmarked it for future reference. However sometimes if using a different computer without your link I would never be able to find it again. I searched the site and can’t find it without your link. That was what I was trying to say. Sorry if I wasn’t clear.
Now, I understand. On the OGS Home page — https://ogs.on.ca/, click on the box, Branch/SIG Resources, toward the bottom right. Then, on the Branch/SIG Resources page, click on the Branch/SIG Resources box on the right. 🙂
