BC Genealogical Society received grant to digitize personal family histories

BCGS logoThe British Columbia Genealogical Society (BCGS) has received funding to digitize pedigree charts, family trees, and family information sheets that form the oldest part of their holdings.

With a $4,609 grant from Library and Archives Canada’s Documentary Heritage Communities Program, the society is having the documents professionally scanned to preserve them and improve access to researchers in the BCGS library and on its website.

Many of the documents to be digitized are handwritten and some are deteriorating.
