100 years of Wainwright, Alberta newspapers digitized

When you read this blog post, you may wish you had relatives who lived in Wainwright, a prairie town in east central Alberta, not far from Saskatchewan.

The Wainwright Public Library has digitized its archive of the Wainwright Star Chronicle from 1908 to 2008, and the results are impressive.

It is easy to navigate the website and the quality of the scanned newspaper pages is excellent.

Wainwright is a town, named after a Grand Trunk Pacific Railway executive. Today, it has a population of about 6,000.

Now, would someone please digitize the Montreal Star?

Thanks to the Alberta Family Histories Society for sharing this on Facebook.

  1. Do you have a picture you posted I believe in 1983 it said, Eat Led and Die.
It was on the Machine gun range with MCPL Allison and Private Bozo?.

I would like to have that pic if you have it 🙂
