OGS 2016 webinar program and registration now available

The schedule for the Ontario Genealogical Society’s (OGS) 2016 webinar program is now available and registration is open.

Earlier this month, OGS announced it has opened its live webinars to the general public. No longer do you need to be a member to watch live. Note, however, that live attendance at each webinar will be limited to 100 registrants. OGS logoThe webinars will be held on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time.

OGS kicks off the year with Evaluating Genealogical Sources: Building a Solid Foundation. Presented by Shirley Sturdevant, this webinar will be held Thursday, January 7, at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time.

What are genealogical sources? How do researchers measure their accuracy? Too often genealogists, especially beginning family historians, take a source at face value. The Genealogical Proof Standard sets the bar for evaluating sources in several ways to test their quality, credibility and strength. Learn how to evaluate your own sources and see how they measure up. Follow through examples to see the ins and outs of how to find your person of interest in the records by looking at all the options connected with them. Let’s find those hidden relatives!
