The Fédération québécoise des sociétés de généalogie (FQSG – Quebec Federation of Genealogy Societies) announced its program for Quebec’s fourth annual Semaine nationale de la généalogie — National Genealogy Week — from November 21 to 28.
Across the province, FQSG members and Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec centres will participate with activities that include workshops, exhibits, and open houses.
The FQSG said, “Genealogy showcases not only family history, but history in general. It is one of the most most popular leisure activities associated with Quebec’s culture. Genealogical societies and genealogists explain, teach and promote an important aspect of the province’s heritage.”
According to the FQSG, more than 25,000 people research their family history in 70 genealogy societies in Quebec.
A list of activities taking place in each region during National Genealogy Week are available here.
Bravo for a designed genealogy week! But is there any information or activity in English. Anglophones are as much a part of Quebec’s history as francophones.
I agree. It also would be a good idea for English-speaking societies to participate, but so far I haven’t found any. The Federation puts together the framework, and any society can use it to promote what they do through open houses, workshops, and other events.
