FamilySearch has added 191,573 church record transcripts for many churches in Newfoundland, from 1753 to 1893.
These records contain baptism, marriage, and burial records. Since burial records were not systematically gathered for this collection, only a very small number are found in the collection.
The images are browsable by districts/municipalities.
Prior to 1891, no central registry existed in Newfoundland. The only record of a baptism, marriage, or burial was the one held by the church.
