If you happen to be in Old Montreal this evening…

On Thursday, October 9, Danielle Léger, librarian responsible for poster collections at the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ), will give a one-hour guided tour of the exhibit Destination Québec – Une histoire illustrée du tourisme, an illustrated history of tourism in Quebec.

The tour begins at 6:00 p.m. in the main exhibit hall at BAnQ, 535 Viger Avenue East, Montreal.

If you need more time to prepare, BAnQ’s December 2 presentation, Graphisme et promotion touristique au Québec – Histoire et enjeux, about the history and issues of Quebec tourism design and advertising, may interest you. It starts at 7:00 p.m. and ends at 8:15 p.m. in the BAnQ auditorium at 535 Viger Avenue East.

During the presentation Marc H. Choko, Danielle Léger, and François Forget will examine Canadian Pacific Railway’s advertising before the Second World War and will discuss how the growth of graphics houses in Quebec after the war transformed the the field of tourism advertising.

Free admission to both events.
