Lecture about the history of the Jews in Hudson-Vaudreuil-Soulanges

Historian Elaine Steinberg will deliver a lecture about the history of the Jews in Hudson-Vaudreuil-Soulanges at the Jewish Genealogical Society of Montreal’s meeting on Monday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting takes place at the Jewish Public library, 5151 Côte-Sainte-Catherine Road in Montreal. There is no charge, but donations are requested.

Ms. Steinberg had no idea there was a history of a Jewish community in the area until two years ago when an archivist at the Centre d’ histoire de la Presqu’ile in Vaudreuil chanced upon an early nineteenth century notarial will of a Jew living in the region. It was the sign she needed to begin doing some research.
