Next weekend, August 23 and 24, take a trip back to Montreal’s first public marketplace in 1750. The Pointe-à-Callière museum offers visitors a unique opportunity in Old Montreal to taste authentic 18th-century products and goods, listen to storytellers and musicians, see people dressed in period costumes, watch artisans, and visit vendors’ kiosks. Children will be able to dress up, discover French games from the era, and play soldier. A military regiment and a native encampment will also be part of the outdoor festivities.
Look for the Société généalogique canadienne-française’s kiosk. Members will there to help people learn about their French Canadian ancestry and provide research tips.
The public market will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Learn more about the public market activities by visiting the Pointe-à-Callière website.
