The Kelowna & District Genealogical Society and the Okanagan Regional Library will host the free online presentation, The S.S. Sicamous and Her Captains, delivered by Robert Nield, on Tuesday, March 25, at 6:30 p.m. Pacific time. It is open to all.
The majestic sternwheeler, S.S. Sicamous, plied Lake Okanagan transporting people, mail and produce from 1914 until 1936. During that time, she had five different captains. Learn more about the lives and personalities of the five men who captained the S.S. Sicamous and this ship, which now rests in Penticton, being the largest such vessel preserved in Canada. There were several ships that served on the lake, but very few have survived, four of which now reside at the S.S. Sicamous Marine Heritage Society Park in Penticton, British Columbia.
Registration is required through the Okanagan Regional Library’s Events Calendar.
