It’s a quieter than usual week for virtual presentations at Ontario Ancestors. However, as usual, the good news is they all look interesting and are free and open to the public.
The following times are in Eastern time.

Exploring the United Church of Canada Archives by Kyle Pugh and Taming the Digital Tiger by Michael Nettleton
Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, the United Church of Canada is the country’s largest Protestant denomination. Formed in 1925 with the union of the Methodist, Congregational, and Presbyterian Unions, the United Church Archives houses thousands of vital statistic registers and historic rolls. Kyle Pugh, the Ontario Regional Councils Archivist, will explore these resources, as well as providing valuable tips on navigating the United Church’s collections.
Do we really load ALL our records, photos, artifact information AND their sources into our genealogy software? Our tiger of documents has become digital — with sources expanding exponentially. Michael Nettleton will show you how to use a simple, expandable structure and process for capturing research on the fly — and documenting your inferences and questions at the same time. The approach requires no special software — and is compatible with most devices, and Windows and Mac platforms. Register to watch online.

In search of Little Johnny O’Connor and his family (sole survivor of The Donnelly murders) by Dan Brock
Like many others, Dan Brock has been fascinated by the story of Little Johnny O’Connor, the sole survivor of the Donnelly tragedy in Lucan, Ontario. In this presentation, Dan will provide some background on the O’Connor family and trace the parents of Johnny O’Connor, John O’Connor himself, and his siblings from the time of the murder of five members of the Donnelly family in Biddulph Township, in February 1880, until their deaths. In doing so, he will point out some of the secondary and primary resources researched and where these resources can be readily found. This is a hybrid meeting. Attend in person at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1139 Riverside Drive, London or register to watch online.
