New birth, marriage and death records on Genealogy Quebec

The Drouin Institute has added more than 87,000 births, marriages and burials/deaths to Genealogy Quebec.

A collaboration with the Société d’histoire de La Prairie-de-la-Magdeleine has enabled the institute to add all of La Nativité de la Sainte-Vierge de Laprairie de la Magdelaine (Notre-Dame) parish’s baptisms and burials from 1862 to 2000, as well as all marriages from 1919 to 2000. In all, nearly 30,000 records have been added.

The Drouin Institute has also added over 56,000 records from various Jewish synagogues in Montreal, Quebec and Sherbrooke, as well as 2,300 headstones from the Jewish section of Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Laval. A digitized picture of the register or stone is available with each record.

New search engine
You can consult these records using the new search engine. Even if you’re not a member, you can see some useful information.

For example, you can see when movie stars Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor married in Montreal. To view the document that holds more details, you need to purchase a one-month or one-year membership. Still, you see the date and location of their marriage.
