Findmypast offers free access to different collections over the four weekends leading to Remembrance Day

If your ancestors and relatives lived in the United Kingdom, cancel all plans for this weekend and the next three.

Starting this weekend, FindMyPast is offering free access to a different set of its records each weekend for the four weekends in the run-up to Remembrance Day on November 11.

The campaign is running with the slogan No Story Left Behind. They hope to encourage more people to discover the men and women who served in their family.

Each weekend, there will be a different collection made completely free to use, culminating in the final Remembrance weekend when all of their records will be freely available.

These are the weekends with the records that will be made free to researchers:

  • October 18 to 21: First World War records, the 1911 census, and birth, marriage and death records.
  • October 25 to 28: Findmypast’s newspaper archives.
  • November 1 to 4: The 1939 Register.
  • November 8 to 11: All Findmypast records, including the 1921 census.
