If you have Scottish ancestors, you’ll want to take a look at the program for the British Isles of Family History Society of Greater Ottawa’s third virtual conference this weekend, Saturday, October 28 and Sunday, October 29. It includes six popular speakers.
All presentations will be online and available to view until November 30.
The speakers are Marjory Harper (keynote), Chris Fleet, Michelle Leonard, Robin Baird Lewis, Kirsty F. Wilkinson, and Chris Paton.
On Sunday morning, experts from seven Scottish regions will join conference registrants for an interactive session. BIFHSGO says, “Come prepared with your questions and wander among breakout rooms to meet with these archivists, genealogists and/or family historians.”
The registration fee is quite reasonable: $30 for members and $40 for non-members.
Registrants will have a chance to win one of 21 door prizes. MyHeritage is offering its Complete Subscription to conference registrants and BIFHSGO members at a 50 percent discount (valid for new subscriptions only and for four days, from October 28 to November 4.
During the conference, BIFSHGO’s 2024 membership will be available to new and returning members for 10 percent off.
Free Expo Hall
The Expo Hall is free and open to everyone. A large number of societies, archival centres, universities and libraries from both sides of the pond will be participating. There will be more to learn about this and additional links as the conference approaches.
