Two Ontario Ancestors webinars this week

Fortunately for us, not everyone has slowed down for the summer. Ontario Ancestors will host its free monthly webinar and the Huron County Branch will host a hybrid meeting. Both are open to all.

The following times are in Eastern time.

Wednesday, August 2, 7:30 p.m. — Huron County Branch
How did they get here? Based on the Diary of George Laird by Deb and Bill McAuslan

Have you ever wondered what it was like to cross the Atlantic Ocean heading to Canada? How did your ancestor travel to southwestern Ontario and Huron County? Learn about one family’s experience and how others told their stories to help paint the picture. Register.

Thursday, August 3, 7:00 p.m. — Ontario Ancestors
Old MacDonald Had a Farm by Tina Beaird

Farm records can be an insightful tool for understanding your ancestor’s place in the world. Were they wealthy, prosperous farmers or scratch farming to survive? Agricultural census, land records, mortgage books, court records, farm directories, newspapers, personal ledgers and diaries and more, can provide an additional layer of insight into your family tree. Tina’s ancestor, John MacDonald, had his farm sold right under his nose! Luckily it was covered in the local paper. What will you find? Register.
