Are you like many who keep checking their DNA matches on Ancestry, but haven’t had a new match in what seems like eons… or perhaps a week or two?
Ancestry’s Corporate Genealogist Crista Cowan recently explained on Twitter why we haven’t seen any new matches lately: “Ancestry has temporarily paused the release of newly processed kits until the Ethnicity Estimate update on (September) the 17th. It wouldn’t make sense to give a new DNA tester their results and then run them through the new algorithm and change them a week later. So you won’t receive any new matches until after that date.”
Now when you visit Ancestry, there is a banner across the top of the screen that reads, “AncestryDNA® results will be updated with even more precision this September.”
So, be patient and stay tuned.
