Almost 10,000 Library and Archives Canada photos on Flickr

Library and Archives Canada (LAC) recently updated a couple of its albums on Flickr that will interest family historians whose ancestors came to Canada in the first half of the 20th century.

The newly updated albums are Immigration by Ship and Railway and Railway and Steamship Advertising.

There are almost 10,000 photos in the entire LAC collection on Flickr, organized into albums.

Other photo albums that will particularly interest family historians are those about the First and Second World Wars, railway stations, individual provinces, Grosse Île, Acadians, early Chinese Canadians, other immigration albums, and residential schools.

The photos can easily be downloaded or shared on social media. Look for the arrows in the bottom right under each photo.

Many thanks to Andrew Elliott, transportation archivist at Library and Archives Canada, for reminding me about this collection. It is listed in the Old Photos category in my Genealogy Research Toolbox.
