If your ancestors lived in Quebec, you must read Patricia Greber’s blog post, 4 Steps For Finding Quebec Notary Records Online, on her blog, My Genealogy Life.
She explains how to look for a notary record in FamilySearch’s online microfilm collection after you’ve found the reference to it in Ancestry’s index, Quebec, Canada, Notarial Records, 1637-1935.
Not all notaries’ records are on FamilySearch, but I was able to find about eight out of every ten I looked for in Montreal — and I was in research heaven.
The recording of the FamilySearch video presentation Patricia mentions in her blog post is available to watch on Family History Library’s Facebook page.
If there are no blog posts from me tomorrow, you’ll know why. It’s because I was deep in FamilySearch’s Quebec notary records collection. I’ll try to come up for air from time to time.
