Two more Prince Edward Island newspapers digitized

The University of Prince Edward Island has added two newspapers to its searchable and browsable online collection at IslandNewspapers.ca.

With funding from the National Heritage Digitization Strategy, the university’s Robertson Library has digitized the Examiner (1847–1900) and the Island’s first French-language newspaper, L’Impartial (1893-1915), which documented the development of Acadian identity in the province.

In 2018, the university received $45,685 from the National Heritage Digitization Strategy to digitize historical newspapers from the 1840s to the opening year of the First World War, including the Examiner and L’Impartial.
