1865 Norway census now available on Ancestry

Ancestry on Sunday released the 1865 Norway Census that contains information about more than 1.6 million people.

This census introduced the self-count system. In urban areas, landlords were requested to personally complete the census forms, which were then collected at district level.

In addition to the number of households, the census also provides information on each individual, such as name, family position, gender, marital status, occupation, any handicaps and ethnicity.

Ancestry also has the Norwegian census records for 1875, 1891, 1900, and 1910. A subscription is required to access all of these census records.
