Krystl Raven at the University of Saskatchewan is looking for descendants of Gabriel Dumont to interview for her dissertation project.
She would also like to interview any Métis individuals for whom Mr. Dumont or his memory is important to their family history.
Gabriel Dumont was a Canadian political figure and a prominent leader of the Métis people. He is known as the man who led the small Métis military forces during the Northwest Resistance of 1885. Mr. Dumont was born to Isidore Dumont and Louise Laframboise in 1837 in the Red River Settlement. He died in 1906 in Saint Isidore-de-Bellevue, Saskatchewan.
If interested in volunteering for an interview, contact Krystl.Raven@usask.ca in the Department of Indigenous Studies.

Gabriel did not have any biological children. From records, he and his wife ‘ad0pted’. I would think someone going to the U.of.S do a bit of research before she put out such a request. Unless she is looking for descendants of Gabriel’s siblings.
