Getting fooled by LivingDNA

LivingDNA yesterday tweeted they are launching flavoured DNA swabs as part of product localisation.

The England-based company wrote, “Based on its latest Genome-Wide Association Study, our team identified the favourite flavours of ice cream around the world and customised the DNA swabs for each region.”

Their YouTube video, seemed hokey and a bit like a parody, but I watched anyway — and believed it. I had hoped to receive a swab that tasted like deep chocolate or chocolate chip ice cream. The Japanese flavour didn’t interest me.

I got April fooled.

Good one, LivingDNA.

That will come back to bite them in the butt. And guilt by association for all the other DNA companies.
