Cyndi Ingle receives Prince Michael of Kent Award

Cyndi Ingle was this week presented with the Society of Genealogists’ Prince Michael of Kent Award for “services to genealogy for many years of dedication with Cyndi’s List.” As many know, Cyndi’s List should be every genealogist’s go-to resource.

Ms. Ingle received the award Wednesday evening during the Unlock the Past’s Alaskan cruise. The society had announced in its July newsletter that Ms. Ingle was the 2018 recipient.

After accepting the award, an emotional Ms. Ingle said, “I feel it’s as much your website as it’s mine. So, when I work on it, I work on it for you guys.”

Australian genealogist Helen Smith, who also delivered presentations during the cruise, shared a video of the presentation on her Facebook page.

Founded in 1911, the Society of Genealogists is the oldest genealogical organization in England. Prince Michael of Kent has been patron of the society since 2005, having formerly been its president from 1978.
