O, Canada! Help index the 1926 census — at home

Genealogists can help speed up the online release of the 1926 Canada census by volunteering as FamilySearch indexers. This is the census of the prairie provinces, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, that Statistics Canada transferred to Library and Archives Canada (LAC) this year on June 1.

Genealogist Patricia Greber explains in her blog post, You Can Help Index the Canadian 1926 Census, how easy it is to index the census, and that we can do it from the comfort of our home.

In another blog post, Hold On To Your Hats, The Census is Coming, that Patricia published Friday, she shared information about the type of information that will be indexed.

As of yesterday, 29 percent of the the census had been indexed.

    HI..
How can I help with the 1926 census? I’ve been doing genealogy for 25 years so I do have some expertise.

I am set up for indexing but have to wait until two conferences at which I am speaking are done! Maybe they will be indexing Alberta then!
