Association seeks British Home Children artifacts for Canadian War Museum

About 25,000 of the more than 100,000 British Home Children, who came to Canada from the 1860s to 1939, served in the World War One or World War Two, and the British Home Children Advocacy and Research Association (BHCARA) wants their service to be recognized and promoted at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa.

To achieve this, BHCARA has been lobbying the museum for an exhibit. This summer, the association received word the museum is moving forward on the project.

While the exhibit still may not be a done deal, BHCARA is putting out feelers for artifacts.

In its Summer 2018 newsletter (page four), BHCARA said, “We are calling out to our members who may have artifacts of interest for this exhibit.” Items donated to the museum will likely be kept permanently or on a long-term loan basis.

Anyone with items that may interest the museum is advised to contact the association at info@britishhomechildren.com.
