BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are? features Canadian fur trade

English comedian Sarah Millican, during an episode of BBC’s Who Do you Think You Are?,  follows the trail of her paternal four times great-grandfather, John Malcolm, to Canada where he worked for the Hudson’s Bay Company. John was sent 200 years ago to a remote outpost involved in the fur trade.

The comedian flew to the outpost in winter, which helped her better understand and appreciate what her ancestor had experienced.

The first half of the program, which finishes at the 30-minute mark, is about her three times great-grandfather, James Hoult, who was one of the first divers in the world.

This episode, available on YouTube, was broadcast during the program’s tenth season in 2013.
