Bertrand Desjardins is working on a monthly series of articles for the blog about Quebec genealogy and demography. He holds a Ph.D. in demography from the Université Lumière-Lyon 2 and is the author of numerous scientific publications on the study of the populations of Quebec and Canada. His first article for the blog is Twenty five children in 27 years: A look at our ancestors’ fertility.
Baptisms and burials
The Drouin Institute announced in its e-newsletter that 11,922 Catholic baptism records 1850-1861 and 6,335 Catholic burial records 1850-1861 had been added to the website, GenealogyQuebec.
The more than two million obituaries published across Canada, from 1999 to almost present day, are free to access.
